Avenue of Light
Transforms Lancaster Avenue

Thank you to all who contributed in making our festive block party on June 25th a wonderful and epic event. Lighting these sculptures for the first time symbolizes a rebirth of Lancaster since an overpass separated this area from the rest of Downtown.  From this point forward, the six stainless steel  sculptures  will illuminate the southern end of Downtown. Towering 36 feet above the streetscape, the Avenue of Light sculptures are comprised of 100 stainless steel plates that reflect sunlight by day and focus beams of energy-efficient LED lights at night. They've been installed along the median from Lamar Street to Main/Commerce Street and will be illuminated with white lights from dusk to dawn, but will include many color options to accent the avenue during holidays and other special occasions.

The City of Fort Worth's public art program commissioned the Avenue of Light as part of Lancaster Avenue 's reconstruction. The sculptures' contemporary design are derived from architectural details in the nearby Texas & Pacific Terminal, an Art Deco landmark. Lancaster Avenue's reconstruction is a catalyst for future economic development along the corridor. Median landscaping will be part of a future phase of the project.
